TO FIND OUT WHERE THE WORLD AND REAL ESTATE ARE HEADED, WHILE NETWORKING AND HAVING NEW BUSINESS EXPERIENCES

THE LEARNING & THE NETWORKING EXPERIENCES / DAY 1 & 2

THE MEDITERRANEAN EXPERIENCE / EXTENDED PROGRAM

THE ISLAND EXPERIENCE / FOR SPOUSES ONLY

A fresh and unusual proposal especially created for the leading players of the property industry in Europe, with the participation of infrequent world-class speakers.

An event designed to meet, learn, share experiences and network in a different, distended and friendly way in a unique place like Ibiza.

All the sessions at SQUARE will devote at least 15 minutes to an open and lively debate/discussion between the floor and the stage, so that attendees will be able to not only ask a question but also, if they feel like, give their opinion or make their own statement (“tiny speech”).

* Simultaneous translation into Spanish will be available in all sessions.

THE LEARNING & THE NETWORKING EXPERIENCES

DAY 1 / Wednesday, June 8th

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

SQUARE will devote its first day (June 8th, from 2.30 pm) to give “food for thought”, especially regarding an issue of paramount importance these days: “geopolitics”.  Is anybody capable these days to anticipate which global geopolitical shifts may occur as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine?  Which will be the macroeconomic consequences of such a war and of such geopolitical developments?  And which will be the effects of it all on the global property industry in general and on the European one in particular?  What may be Russia’s next move?  How is the western world to react?  And what about China?  Is China to be the big silent winner of it all?  Again, lots of food for thought derived from this insane war.

And within this absolutely disruptive environment caused by the war in Ukraine, is there still room for hope in the RE industry?  Any extra threats beyond those coming from the war?  What to expect when thinking of the property industry in the next 10 years?  In short, cheers and fears for the next decade.  That’s how SQUARE will get rolling.

And… who will be the men and women leading the way in these turbulent and most unpredictable times?  What will they be like?   What sort of managers and directors, what sort of leaders will be needed for RE companies to succeed?  In the age of technology, the human factor how important will it be?  That will also be addressed on the Opening of SQUARE 2022.

As said, lots of food for thought.

And it will be up to the SQUARE participants trying to figure out how this will affect RE and their own companies.

“Navigating these turbulent times: exploring the drivers and potential value in European real estate”
Advice must always be sought and even more in turbulent times with unprecedented geopolitical changes taking place.  That’s the reason why SQUARE has asked Andrew to talk about the macro economic framework, the rising issues of inflation / interest rates and impacts on occupier markets and investment markets. Also that’s why he will walk through each of the main commercial and indeed ‘Living’ sectors to offer some opinion of where risks are most prevalent and where value most compelling.

DAY 2 / Thursday, June 9th

THE FUTURE: UTOPIA OR DYSTOPIA?
+ CREATIVITY, ART, AND TECHNOLOGY: TOOLS FOR BETTER REAL ESTATE
+ WHERE MONEY IS TO GO

SQUARE is proud to focus on the long-term rather than on the short one and also is proud to be bold and non-mainstream. That’s why we believe that a great way of kicking-off Day 2 is through a most provoking address on what may our future be like: utopia or dystopia.

And in our approach to the future, we are convinced that“innovation & technology” and “creativity & art” are to be key in successful projects. That’s why we will devote almost the whole second day to these “tools” and how to use them to increase value.

Nevertheless, the truth is that at the end of the day, at the end of the year, real estate companies must make money, must pay back their lenders and investors. And that’s why there is no better way to close the gathering than listening to large savvy investors and learn where and in what they are to bet on the very coming years (short-term) but also in the mid and long-term and find out what their opinions are on all the issues dealt with in the previous sessions.

“Laggards and early adopters: how real estate firms approach innovation”

The real estate industry has a reputation for conservatism, which isn’t surprising when real estate is used to preserve wealth. But things are changing. Technology has taken a big bite out of shopping centre values, and offices might be next.

Climate concerns and impact will drive future asset performance. How should real estate firms respond to the opportunities and challenges offered by these new forces of change?

THE NETWORKING EXPERIENCE

DAY 3 / Friday, June 10th

Extended Program

On Friday, June 10th, SQUARE will deliver a networking experience.

Basically, it’s about a “Mediterranean Experience”. Lunch (plus after-lunch drinks and cigars for those who love them) at 1.00 pm at one of the most fashionable “chiringuitos” (Spanish word for “restaurant on the beach”) in Ibiza: “Es Torrent”. A superb, first-class, “chiringuito”, where to enjoy a memorable “Bullit de peix”, a fish stew followed by a most amazing, and different!, sort of “paella”.

*  Extra Networking Day (€400 additional registration fee required)

Es Torrent

THE ISLAND EXPERIENCE

ALL DAYS

For spouses only

For those willing to travel to such an appealing place as Ibiza together with his or her “better half”, SQUARE will deliver a special program to experience different aspects of the island, from lunching at an exclusive beach club to go shopping at the Dalias hippy market in San Carlos, or from visiting the lovely little village of Santa Gertrudis, to shopping around the Ibiza “old town”.
