TO FIND OUT WHERE THE WORLD AND REAL ESTATE ARE HEADED, WHILE NETWORKING AND HAVING NEW BUSINESS EXPERIENCES

THE LEARNING & THE NETWORKING EXPERIENCES / DAY 1 & 2

THE MEDITERRANEAN EXPERIENCE / EXTENDED PROGRAM

THE ISLAND EXPERIENCE / FOR SPOUSES ONLY

A fresh and unusual proposal especially created for the leading players, both domestic and foreign, of the property industry in Spain with the participation of infrequent world-class speakers.

An event designed to meet, learn, share experiences and network on a different, distended and friendly way in a unique place as Ibiza.

All of the sessions at SQUARE will devote at least 15 minutes to an open and lively debate/discussion between the floor and the dais, so that attendees will be able to not only ask a question but also, if they feel like, give their opinion or make their own statement (“tiny speech”).

* Simultaneous translation in all sessions.

THE LEARNING & THE NETWORKING EXPERIENCES

DAY 1 / Wednesday, June 5th

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

SQUARE will devote its first day (June 5th, at 2.00 pm) to give “food for thought” through three world-class Keynote Speakers. They will address “broad issues”, not mere RE issues.  They will tell where the world, our society, is heading in geo-political, macro-economic and sociological terms. And it will be up to the SQUARE participants trying to figure out how this will affect RE and their own companies.

Bill Gates, “The Road Ahead”.When faced with decisions about the future, we tend to rely solely on present data rather than trying to assess and test the unknown. This tendency to extrapolate existing trends of the past may well proof to be dangerous in the coming years. In his talk, Daniel will challenge some of the common believes concerning financial markets and politics.

As the recent U-turn by the Fed shows, we all live in a world of fixed and permanently low interest rates. How did this Japanification of fixed income occur? Is it permanent or is there an inflation scare on the horizon?  And how do we as rational IRR seeking Investors price and value real estate when the “risk-free rate” has been structurally disrupted?  And… most important, how will consultants, actuaries and fund managers deal with generationally-low risk-free rates, and will investment committees adjust quickly enough to the apparently expensive pricing of long-term real estate cash-flows?

Ipsos

Ready or not, society is changing at top speed; it is more important than ever to be aware of what’s around the corner. “Social Global Trends” affect the future of living, shopping, travelling, working… and therefore the future of real estate.
Ipsos, the largest independent market research company worldwide, is present in 83 countries interviewing over 15M people per year, collecting their opinions, analysing their behaviour and thoughts. All this data allows Ipsos to understand the present and predict the future. Thus, the results that Ipsos will deliver at SQUARE are based on the Global Trends survey, the largest study of its kind, providing a unique snapshot of the world today. The survey explores the attitudes and behaviours of over 18,000 consumers and citizens in 23 key countries around the world and with over 400 questions, covers
everything from tradition to trust, from brands to business, from society to social media and much, much more.
So, get ready for a privileged premiere on what will be the predominant social global trends in the coming years.

DAY 2 / Thursday, June 6th

THE DISRUPTERS MORNING
+ ART & RE
+ INNOVATION IN HOSPITALITY
+ MONEY, MONEY, MONEY...

It will start with “The Disrupters Morning”, mainly devoted to the changes taking place, and even more coming, in our ways of living and, thus, in the ways we work, travel, shop, live….

We will then, still before lunch, address a very special and uncommon issue, but probably much more important than many consider, which is “art and RE”.  That is, how art can be a phenomenal trigger for urban redevelopment and for the adding of value at RE projects.

After lunch, we’ll turn the focus on one of the “hottest” segments of RE world-wide: hospitality.  And we’ll make the exercise of trying to anticipate what the industry (and the travel one too) may be like 5-10 years down the road.

And to close, SQUARE will address, of course, what’s king: the money issue.  After having heard for the previous 24 hours all the “warnings” and “forecasts” and “trends” that may affect the world and, consequently, the RE industry, four outstanding investors will share their views on where money will be headed in the next years, both geographically and product-wise.

The world is at an inflexion point and disruption is becoming an everyday reality. Cities have changed their pulse, their pace, and reach, making the urban scale an interconnected element of a global networked society with new forms of social, cultural and economic life constantly emerging. Lara Marrero will share insights on some of the disruptors that could impact people, business, communities, and cities in the future and will help us understand how we can design for the future when the past is no longer a reasonable guide to it.

THE MEDITERRANEAN EXPERIENCE

DAY 3 / Friday, June 7th

Extended Program

On Friday, June 7th, SQUARE will deliver a “Mediterranean Experience” for those who may want to extend the networking time with their peers.

A little fleet of motor yachts will depart at 1:00 pm from Marina Botafoch to the neighbouring island of Formentera (35 minutes away) to enjoy a couple of unforgettable experiences: bathing in the crystal-clear waters of Illetes beach and lunching with peers at one of the most fashionable spots on the Spanish coasts, “El Pirata Restaurant”.

The fleet is to return to Ibiza around 6:30 pm.

El Pirata Restaurant

THE ISLAND EXPERIENCE

ALL DAYS

For spouses only

For those willing to travel to such an appealing place as Ibiza together with his or her “better half”, SQUARE will deliver a special program to experience different aspects of the island, from lunching at an exclusive beach club to go shopping at the Dalias hippy market in San Carlos, or from visiting the lovely little village of Santa Gertrudis, to shopping around the Ibiza “old town”.
